Once upon a time - that magical phrase at the beginning of every good story. People say that time flies, that time is money. We waste time, we kill time, we try to save time. But what do we really know about time? Time seems to flow endlessly, like a river, from one moment to the next. And the flow of time is always in one direction - towards the future. We can't touch it, we can't see it, yet every one of us is aware of its passing.
With time, everything is possible; without time, nothing. If we think of it this way, there is a miraculous natural socialism in the distribution of time. When we wake up in the morning, our purse is filled with 24 hours of time. It is ours. It is our most precious possession. No one can take it from us. It is unstealable. And no one receives either more or less than we receive. We are free to do whatever we want with it.
We can waste this infinitely precious commodity as much as we want, and the supply will never be withheld from us. Neither will we get any bonus for our judicious use of it. We have to live on this 24 hours of daily time, every day, till we die. Out of it, we have to spend on health, relationships, pleasure, money, etc., and most importantly, on the evolution of our personality.
Its proper use, the most effective use, is a matter of the highest urgency. It all depends on that. If we cannot arrange this income of 24 hours to cover all proper items of expenditure, we will meddle our whole life indefinitely, for we shall never have any more time. We have and always had all the time there is.
